How the Elizabeth Municipal Court handles hearings, payments and requests

  • The city says all traffic and criminal matters, including in-person payments and questions, are handled only at 1 Police Plaza.
  • Court sessions are currently held on Zoom: Monday at 9 am and 1:30 pm, Tuesday at 9 am, 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm, Wednesday at 9 am and 5:30 pm, and Thursday and Friday at 9 am.
  • The bail window is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 2 pm. A Zoom virtual violations window with live staff runs from 8 am to 6 pm.
  • Eligible moving violations can be disputed online at njmcdirect.com without a court appearance. A prosecutor reviews them and sends a recommendation.
