Short answer

An Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC) handles education and screening within New Jersey’s post-conviction Intoxicated Driving Program. Follow your assigned center’s notice and keep completion records. Attendance, any required follow-up, and license restoration are separate items to track.

What is the difference between IDP and IDRC?

The state IDP office coordinates the program; IDRC centers provide local education, screening and referrals. Your scheduling letter identifies the center handling your appointment. Use that contact for questions about the appointment.

How should you prepare for your appointment?

  • Keep your court order, scheduling notice and case number together.
  • Ask the center what identification, documents and payment arrangements it requires.
  • Confirm the date, location or approved attendance format directly with the center.
  • Raise interpreter, disability-access or scheduling needs before the appointment.

Does attendance automatically finish every requirement?

Do not treat a calendar entry as proof of completion. Ask for a written explanation of any remaining steps and where confirmation will be sent. If you receive a treatment referral, ask who coordinates it and what documentation must return to the center. Keep copies of correspondence and receipts in one folder.

What if you cannot attend or cannot find your notice?

Contact the assigned center promptly and document the response. Do not assume that leaving a voicemail approves a new date. If you have no scheduling notice, use the state program’s contact information to ask where your file was referred. Tell your lawyer about an unresolved conflict or conflicting instructions.

What should you check before driving again?

Compare your court order, program paperwork and MVC notices. Our license restoration checklist helps organize that review. Finishing an appointment does not by itself tell you that every restriction has ended.

For case-specific representation questions, contact the firm. The free initial consultation is with the Director of Client Engagement, not an attorney.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose any online DWI class?

Ask your assigned center before paying for a course. Do not assume a commercial online certificate meets your assigned requirements.

Who handles questions about my IDRC appointment?

Start with the center listed on your scheduling notice.
